Lauren's Birthday Party

For Lauren's 4th Birthday Party, she wanted to invite GIRLS only over for tea. For anyone who knows me, clearly this was the green light that I had been waiting for for over 4 years!! A tea party??? "Sure, honey! You can have a tea party"!! What ensued can only be described as a mother's indulgence and a little girl's overdose on sugar. The boys excused themselves for lunch on their own at the deli up the road and the mamas passed around fancy trays of sweet delights to some very well behaved little ladies. Jason's mom was here for the fun and I was sooooo thankful for her help!

Setting the table for this birthday tea held special significance for me because the china that I used was my Grandmother's (my Dad's Mom who passed when I was in High School)and the table linens and serving pieces, along with a side drop-leaf table, were recently given to me by my Maternal Grandmother. These were items from the house where my grandparents spent the last four decades and where my Mom and brother and I lived for 9 years. They definitely hold a lot of sentimental value for me and I was so excited to be able to use these special things to make Lauren's Birthday tea party extra fancy!

Setting napkins in laps...

First Course of sandwiches, fruit and cookies

Serving the second round of treats

The girls had time to play before and after the tea, and while we were waiting for the boys to return so that we could have cake and cupcakes (more sweets!!), the girls played this little stacking game with sugar cubes. They were so focused on their task!

I think that Lauren's (and my) expectations were met and exceeded at the tea party. The best part was having some SWEET girls here to share it with!!
