One year ago today...

I was laying on my left side in a hospital bed, trying to rest a little between contractions, and thinking it was going to be a long night waiting for our little boy to arrive. My progress in labor had been steady but slow up until that point and the doctor on call was not in a rush - he pretty much said "we'll just be patient" when he came in to check on me late that night. Little did he know that he'd be rushing back into my room about 30 minutes later to help welcome our little guy into the world!!

I had just gotten into a semi-comfortable position after the doctor left when I could feel that my contractions were picking up in intensity and even with an epidural in place, I started to have terrible pain and pressure that came on very suddenly and rapidly. Once the nurse checked me, she quickly realized that it was time for baby to be born! The doctor and the nursery staff were called in and a few pushes later, there was our son! Joshua was finally here!! Born on May 29th...10 seconds after midnight!

I will never forget you calling me in labor. I had to laugh and feel warm/fuzzy at the same time that you would call me during such a momentous event. :)
